Recreation centers are typical places you'd hear those top 10 workout songs, but at the Breckenridge and Silverthorne Recreation Centers, there are plenty of classes that depart from the norm. Also check out Studio D in Frisco, which offers Jazzercise and more.
Breckenridge Recreation Center classes:
• Nia, 11 a.m. Tuesdays: An aerobic class emphasizing the mind-body connection and the cultivation of joy and pleasure through a combination of dance, martial arts and healing arts, such as yoga. Music: All kinds of rousing world music.
• Willpower and Grace, 9 a.m. Mondays: A high-energy cardio class that incorporates dance, calisthenics and yoga postures based on a functional training philosophy. Music: rhythmic, dance-based.
• Zumba 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays (also at 5:30 p.m. Mondays and 7:45 a.m. Fridays, there are Latin dance-based aerobic classes): A Latin dance party, filled with Latin music, including salsa and hip-hop.
• Stretch and Strength, 9 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays: A moderately-paced strength-based class designed to increase muscle strength and flexibility. Music: classic rock and low-key dance rock.
• 360, 6:15 a.m. Wednesdays: A cardio-based interval class designed to improve movements in all planes of motion. Music: 1980's classics with a beat.
• Pilates and Yoga

Silverthorne Recreation Center classes:
• Zumba (Latin dance party): Begins this Thursday, for 6 weeks, at 7 p.m.
• Drop-in classes such as kickboxing, water aerobics, muscle madness, cardio strength, pilates and more! Music varies from teacher to teacher, anywhere from Lady Gaga to Woodstock rock. Call (970) 262-7370 or visit www.silverthorne.org for a detailed schedule.
