TRADITION HAS it that Italian social clubs in their early years would find great joy getting together to enjoy food, wine, camaraderie and singing Italian songs.

The custom was recreated this past Saturday evening at the sold-out Fratellanza Club as it hosted "Italian Night."

Club Chairman of the Board Jim Taddei manned the box office for this event to ensure that all patrons, including Cino Chegia, Roland Lazzaratto and Joe and Ida Scadella received their VIP tickets.

Club mixologists Bruno Andrina, Ralph Brignone and John Ciarbellini, decked out in specialized Italian-themed apparel for the night, made sure that all patrons received their beverage of choice.

As everyone settled into their seats to enjoy the creations of club chefs Michele Gasparo, Angelo Marchi and Art Parziale, the singing of Italian songs by members and guests alike began to echo through the dining room.

Past President Gianfranco Sciacero took to the podium to lead the guests in a hearty rendition of a "That's Amore."

Joan Brignone, Dino and Marge Cacioppo, Mike and Deb Delaney, Bob and Lynette Franks and Joanie Gerhardt were seen swooning in their seats as one song after another was sung.

Even the fabulous wait staff, among them Sally Accurso, Vicki Christophe, Mary Ciarbellini, Mike Gengler, Loretta Iacobitti and Lillian Taddei, got into the spirit of the evening. They could be heard singing "Arrevederci Roma"

as they walked among the tables, making sure that everyone was well-stocked with food and wine.

A fun, fast-paced raffle was led by club Vice President John Barrassi and Women's Social Club President Vera Kaufman.

Ticket sellers Roz Cantisani and Allen Pricco made sure everyone had a chance to win a gift basket, a beautiful orchid plant or home entertainment system and Joyce Gengler was kept busy passing them out to the winners.

At our table, Joanie Gerhardt was the lucky winner. She went home with several lovely gifts. Event chairpersons Rich and Mary Anne Giaramita pulled out all of the stops by making sure that the George Campi Band was on hand for dancing and listening pleasures after dinner.

Teresa Nicoletti, Patti Pistello and Elena Sannazzaro were seen on the dance floor as the night turned into early morning! Un altro grande tempo al Fratellanza!
